National Convention
Each year, the annual meeting of the National Federation of the Blind Sports and Recreation Division is held during the National Convention of the National Federation of the Blind. This is a great time to learn about the latest in sports and recreation for the blind and visually impaired and become a part of a community of others who are excited about health and wellness.
We will hold our annual business meeting on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 12:30 to 4:00 pm in Panzacola G-2, Level 1. Registration is $5 and includes membership in the Division. You can save time by pre-registering on our Registration page.
In addition to the usual fun and festivities, we are beyond excited to tell you about two exciting events taking place on Monday, July 10, 2017 in Sebastian Ballroom J from 10:00a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Convention will start off with a BANG with the NF-BE Healthy Fair and Try It Seminar.
NF-BE Healthy Fair
NF-BE Healthy with the Sports and Recreation Division of the National Federation of the Blind. This health fair, specifically designed with the blind in mind will offer information, resources, and tools to move toward a healthier lifestyle. The NF-BE Healthy Fair is a your chance to check out taking health and wellness gadgets, accessible activity trackers, get a health screenings, connect with sports and recreation opportunities in the community, learn about looking cute in the gym, get information on diabetes and diabetes prevention, and learn how to stay active in the golden years. The NF-BE Healthy fair sheds light on all things exercise and nutrition and is completely FREE to convention attendees and members of the Orlando community. Do not let this opportunity pass you by! TRY IT Seminar
The Try It Seminar is your opportunity to TRY your hand at a variety of different sports and recreation activities in a highly descriptive, non threatening, and encouraging, environment. Have you ever been too intimidated to go to a yoga class, wanted to learn more about Goalball,or increase your confidence by learning a little self-defense? All this plus the opportunity to discover Cardio Drumming (the new fitness rage), how to advocate for yourself in the gym, and alternative techniques for swimming will be available to you at the 2016 Try It Seminar.
